Riversharks Sign Three Returners To 2010 Roster

05/25/10

The Camden Riversharks announced three more additions to this season’s roster. The team has agreed to terms with Julio Guerrero, Brian Burgamy, and Garrett Guzman, who were all members of the 2009 opening day team. Burgamy returns at his infield position and Guzman will manage the outfield; Guerrero joins the bullpen as a right-handed pitcher.
Julio Guerrero will return for his third season in Camden. He debuted for the Riversharks in 2008 and appeared in 47 games his first year. Collectively, during his time with the ‘Sharks, Guerrero registered a 4.42 ERA, allowed 84 earned runs, and struck out 105 batters. The 29 year old pitcher is expected to work out of the bullpen again this season.
Brian Burgamy returns to Camden for his second stint with the team. Burgamy was originally selected by the San Diego Padres in the ninth round of the 2002 draft. Last season in Camden, he played both second and third base for the team, and compiled a .247 batting average while driving in 62 runs. This season we can expect Brian to primarily play the same role.
Also re-signing with the Riversharks this week was outfielder Garrett Guzman. Last season, Guzman compiled a .298 batting average and drove in 29 runs after appearing in 44 games. Prior to his time with the Riversharks, Guzman had signed with the AAA Columbus Clippers of the International League in 2008.
“These guys sustained success during last season in Camden,” said Riversharks Pitching Coach, Jeff Scott, “They finished the year on a good note, which I can only hope will carry over to the upcoming season,” he added.

  •   January is not a big month for “don’t miss” events, But it is home to one of, if not “the,” premier events of the year—the State Chamber’s annual “Walk to Washington.”
The tradition began in 1937 when several of the state's top business executives took a train to Washington to have dinner with New Jersey's congressional delegation. The rest is history. The Walk to Washington obtained its name when participants realized that few sit on the train; they literally walk the train mingling and exchanging business cards the whole way to Washington.
