Gloucester County Italian Heritage Commission Names Jim Daloisio as 2010 GC Italian-American Citizen of the Year

 The Gloucester County Italian Heritage Commission announced that it has chosen James Daloisio as the Gloucester County Italian-American Citizen of the Year for 2010. Daloisio currently serves as president, chief operating officer, and chairman of the board of the Railroad Construction Company of South Jersey, located in Paulsboro, NJ.

  The Commission will present the award to Daloisio on September 15 at its Taste of Italy fundraiser held at Auletto’s Caterers in Almonesson.

  Daloisio was chosen for his civic involvement in the Gloucester County community. He is a founding trustee and officer of the Paulsboro Boys and Girls Club. He is also a past president of the Gloucester County Boys and Girls Club and a current member of the New Jersey Alliance Board of Trustees.

  Daloisio is the recipient of many honors and awards from other organizations as well. These include Deborah Hospital for Outstanding Achievement and Dedication; The New Jersey Commission on Social Justice; the Louis J. Rosini Achievement Award for Advancing the Ideals of the Italo-American Community; the Alumni Award for Meritorious Service from Villanova University, College of Engineering; and twice received the President‘s Award from the Grand Lodge of New Jersey for Excellence in Service.

  When notified that he was chosen as the recipient of this year’s Italian-American Citizen Award, Daloisio said, “I am very surprised and honored to have been selected for this prestigious award. I am especially honored because I am following such notable former recipients as the Mayor/Assemblyman from Paulsboro, John Burzichelli.”

  Daloisio is a graduate of Villanova University and Rutgers Law School, Camden. He currently resides in Moorestown with his wife Michele. They have two children, Christofer and Kimberly, and four grandchildren.

  The public is welcome to join in honoring Jim Daloisio at the Taste of Italy event. The event is a fundraiser for the 7th Annual Italian Heritage Festival of Gloucester County to be held Sunday, October 3 at RiverWinds in West Deptford.

  Past recipients of the Gloucester County Italian-American Citizen of the Year Award are:
  2009: Assemblyman John Burzichelli, for his service to the residents of New Jersey.
  2008: Jim Auletto, for his ongoing support of the GC Italian Festival and service to other community organizations.
  2007: Joseph Cannavo, for promoting the study of the Italian language in the County’s schools.
  2006: Angelo Romeo, for his accomplishments as Director of the GC Office of Veterans Affairs.

  •    The mission of the Next Generation Aviation Research Park (ARTP) is to promote sustained economic growth and job creation throughout New Jersey and the nation by implementing and operating a cooperative, state-of-the-art aviation Research Park that will support the evolution of the Next Generation aviation environment.
       At full build out, the Park will include seven multi-story buildings with a total of over 400,000 square feet of laboratory and research space located on the campus of the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center which is the nation’s leading air transportation Federal Facility.

  •   January is not a big month for “don’t miss” events, But it is home to one of, if not “the,” premier events of the year—the State Chamber’s annual “Walk to Washington.”
      The tradition began in 1937 when several of the state's top business executives took a train to Washington to have dinner with New Jersey's congressional delegation. The rest is history. The Walk to Washington obtained its name when participants realized that few sit on the train; they literally walk the train mingling and exchanging business cards the whole way to Washington.
