Following Distinguished Medical Careers, Three Leading Delaware Valley Urology Physicians to Retire

12/05/10

Delaware Valley Urology, LLC., (DVU), has announced the retirement of three founding physicians, Neil Phillips, M.D.; Murillo Mangubat, M.D.; and Guillermo Elkouss, M.D., effective December 31, 2010. As leaders in the field of urology, Phillips, Mangubat and Elkouss are among the specialists who helped lay a solid foundation for DVU to provide the highest level of patient care.
Elkouss graduated from the University of Buenos Aires, where he also completed medical school. He trained as a resident in urology at Hahnemann Medical College. Elkouss is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Phillips attended Temple University, where he received a bachelor’s degree, and received his MD from New York University. He completed urology training at and Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in New York and Indiana University. Phillips is certified by the American Board of Urology, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and was named one of the Top Doctors of South Jersey in August 2007. Additionally, he received a Master of Science in anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2005.
Mangubat received undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Santo Tomas. He served as a resident in urology at University of Pennsylvania Graduate Hospital. After completing his residency, Mangubat served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force from February 1979 through July 2005 as Chief of Urology, U.S. Air Force Regional Medical Center, Clark Air Base, Philippines, and U.S. Air Force Hospital, Vanderberg Air Base, California. He was awarded the U.S. Air Force Commendation Medal. Mangubat is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
With a combined 101 years of experience, the Drs. helped build the practice that today includes 35 urologists in 10 DVU locations in Burlington, Camden and Gloucester counties. DVU is dedicated to providing full service diagnosis and treatment of conditions that affect all areas of the urinary system. Each office features state-of-the-art technology and is staffed with urologists, physician assistants and nurse practitioners, each having specific sub-specialty skills in addition to general urology in order to better serve each patient’s individual needs.
“It is with mixed emotion we say good luck to Dr. Phillips, Dr. Mangubat and Dr. Elkouss. As their colleagues, we are committed to continuing to provide the same level of care and treatment they have provided,” said Dr. Adam Perzin, president of DVU. “We wish each of them a well-deserved rewarding retirement and success as they begin in a new chapter in their lives.”

  •   Citing Joint Base as McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst as “an extremely valuable asset to the Burlington/Ocean county community,” the Burlington County Chamber of Commerce wants “to grow it into an even more valuable base than it already is.”
According to Chamber President Kristi Howell-Ikeda, “in this way we will automatically be ready for the next Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) rounds which are expected to come in 2013 and 2015.”

  •    As many of you know, I’m a contestant in a local version of Dancing with the Stars that benefits the Cherry Hill Education Foundation and will take place on May 6th.
As expected, the event sold out in March, but you can still support this great cause. I hope that you will consider supporting me and my partner, Joe DeMarco from DeMarco Dance Studio as we dance the night away and compete against 15 other couples in categories that include best overall production, most creative dance, and best performance.
