Annual “Great Tastes & Cool Jewels”
McNelis & Sherry, Fine Jewelers’ Fall FUNdraiser

Fall 2007 marks the fourth year of McNelis and Sherry’s FUNdraiser to benefit mental wellness in South Jersey.  The Fall FUNdraiser, Great Taste and Cool Jewels, raises awareness and significant funding for mental health projects throughout the community. As the Jeweler underwrites any additional expenses, and through generous efforts and “in kind” donations by local media, retailers, chefs and community leaders, it is ensured that all financial contributions to the event proceed directly to the seven mental health initiatives within five area health care systems and two mental health care providers.

McNelis & Sherry has been actively involved in supporting various causes in the South Jersey region for 25 years. Just as the business prides itself on “bridging the gap between fashion and fine jewelry,” the past three years have also been successfully dedicated to bridging another most important gap: that between Mental Health Care and general Medical Health Care from premier local providers. The jeweler is proud to bring together businesses, community and customers for this great cause.

In previous years McNelis and Sherry has received the generous support of primary sponsors like Archer and Greiner, Ballard Spahr Andrews and Ingersoll and Susquehanna Patriot Bank.  With their continuous support and guarantee of all monies going directly to the beneficiaries, sponsors, along with McNelis and Sherry, are the core of the FUNdraisers success.  New primary sponsors are continuing to join the team for 2007 such as All Risk Insurance, UM Holdings, Whitesell Construction, Flaster, Greenberg, P.C. and excelleRx.

Again, this year, valuable funds will be used to support important mental wellness initiatives to:

• Build on and maintain Senior services. (Virtua Health System)
• Raise money for support services for children suffering from abuse.  (The CARES institute, UMDNJ-SOM)
• Support The Dr. Diane Barton Complementary Medicine Program of the Cancer Institute of NJ.  (Cooper University Hospital)
• Provide funds for a seminar on preventing suicide and building resiliency in children, ‘Today’s World’ Program (The Mental Health Association of Southwestern NJ)
• Support programs working to help prevent SIDs with the ‘Safe Sleeping’ initiative. (Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center)
• Aid The Center for Children’s Behavioral Health, which benefits many challenges including Autism. (Underwood-Memorial Hospital)
• Support “Schools and Community Organized for Parent Education,” or S.C.O.P.E. program. (Kennedy Health System)

The 2007 Great Taste and Cool Jewels, FUNdraiser takes place the week of November 11th through the 18th.  Two great parties will be hosted by McNelis and Sherry in the Haddonfield store on November 11th and 18th,and will be fill the week with a number of festivities and prizes, including gourmet chef dinners at premier restaurants, jewels including a thousand dollar shopping spree, and prizes from  the finest designers including Lagos, David Yurman, Slane and Slane and Temple St. Clair as well as in-store trunk shows by these and more.  With the tremendous help of local retail stores and restaurants such as Au Courant, Cork, Fuji, Catelli, Nonna’s, Los Amigos, Scaturros, Sansone Florist, Suky, and more, combined with the contributions of dedicated committee members, media support and generous sponsors, McNelis and Sherry has continued to be able to make this annual event a growing success.

  •   January is not a big month for “don’t miss” events, But it is home to one of, if not “the,” premier events of the year—the State Chamber’s annual “Walk to Washington.”
The tradition began in 1937 when several of the state's top business executives took a train to Washington to have dinner with New Jersey's congressional delegation. The rest is history. The Walk to Washington obtained its name when participants realized that few sit on the train; they literally walk the train mingling and exchanging business cards the whole way to Washington.
